The First Ever Shamrock Stand Down!
Happening November 6-8, 2008, in Las Vegas
If you served with D Troop in Vietnam (1966-1971), you're invited to attend this terrific event, anticipated to be our biggest and best reunion to date, with representation from all the years our unit was deployed in RVN, from the "Trip on the Ship" in 1966 to pack up and leave in 1971.
In addition to having a great time and getting to know our brothers, we'll have the serious objective of documenting, through first hand accounts and personal narratives, a detailed history of our remarkable unit. This info will then be collected into a publication that you can share with your families and they can share with theirs. When someone says "What did Grandpa (well, we're not getting any young
er you know) do in the war?", the answer will be at hand.
Too much of the history of the units, and yes, the individuals, who served in Vietnam has been lost. And because of the tour intervals, those who served during one tour period have had little knowledge or contact with those of other years. But we all have something to contribute, to each other, our unit, and to the history of the Vietnam War. The Shamrock Stand Down is a way to make sure that history is not lost. If you served with the Army's "Shamrock" outfit in Vietnam, make plans now to attend.
And we make it easy. You make your own hotel reservations to your individual wants and needs, whether it's a Motel 6 out on the edge of town, or the Bellagio with mirrors on the ceiling, whatever floats your boat. We'll provide a central meeting facility, and transportation to and from if needed. In addition, again dep
ending on your wants and likes, we'll schedule
some 'outside' events. If there are a couple of foursomes who would like to do a golf outing, we can arrange that. If there are enough people who would like to take a day trip to Hoover Dam -- quite a sight if you've never been -- we'll arrange that, too. Then on Saturday night, we'll have a special dinner at a nice local restaurant. Details on all of this will be assembled as we begin to get an idea of how many people we can expect.
Take a few minutes now and let us know you'll be there. Email Doug Donnell at dwdreps@yahoo.com or Al Peterson at alan_25057@msn.com.
